The hotel offered full value for money. Rooms could have been installed with better safety features but overall I enjoyed staying here at The Flying Pig Downtown Hostel with respect to locality around. I would say this is a youth hostel located just near Amsterdam Central Railway Station. It is near the Red Light District from where many tourist places are just around the corner. This place was an 18th century building which has now been modified in to something new and good looking with a great night life, comfort zone and a mixed life. Two of the best cultural spots to look out for in Amsterdam, the Royal Palace and Anne Frank House are nearby to this hostel.
You get out from the front door of this hostel and you have the biggest shopping street in front of you. You will get hold of private rooms in this hostel starting at a price of 16.90 Euro up to 51.90 Euro. In the hostel you will get to see facilities like a pool table, small terrace, discounted bike rental services, free guest kitchen, shower and toilet accessories, individual lockers, luggage lockers, public phones, munch food and other facilities. The hostel is linked up with one of the cheapest bars of the town with themed DJ’s and night parties. I also had a fast working internet facility in my room through Wi-Fi.
Overall I had a good experience in The Flying Pig Downtown Hostel, just a point of concern was the cost of safety deposits and lockers. They were of bad quality as compared to the prices. I had to pay around 0.40 Euro per hour for the luggage lockers which were not properly working. But I was happy as they gave me a free access to the Winston Kingdom nightclub. The hostel staff was friendly and with well-knowledge about the places of interest around and the transport facilities. I also got assistance from the hostel staff members about Noordwijk, a place popular for woodland and beautiful dunes. I had a great time at the Flying Pig Downtown Hostel Bar as I met many colorful people around and there was a great atmosphere. I was also at hostel Aroza that is 5 minutes walk from the flying pig, I would defiantly recommend the flying pig over Aroza, but you need to order place in advance, don’t just land there and expect to find a free bed.
